Sound Familiar?

Every hardware team hits the same wall as their component library grows. These are the exact problems Vyomex AltDB was built to solve.

Excel Library Chaos

Multiple engineers editing the same spreadsheet. Duplicate part numbers. No version history. One wrong cell breaks your entire BOM.

No Approval Process

Anyone can add any component. Unverified parts end up in production. A single wrong footprint costs thousands in PCB respins.

DbLib Setup Nightmare

Altium's ODBC configuration is painful to set up and maintain. DSN connections break. Engineers spend hours troubleshooting instead of designing.

Broken Library Paths

SchLib and PcbLib paths break when folders move. No standardized relative path system means constant manual fixing across team machines.

Everything Your Team Needs

AltDB is purpose built for Altium Designer workflows — not a generic database tool retrofitted for electronics.

🔢

Auto Part Numbering

Define your prefix and digit format once. Every new component gets a unique RM number generated automatically. No duplicates, ever.

Approval Workflow

Components added by engineers go in as pending. Admins review and approve before anything goes live. Full control over what enters production libraries.

📂

Smart Path Browser

Browse and select SchLib and PcbLib files directly from the form. Paths stored as relative to your database — works across all team machines.

👥

Role Based Access

Admin and user roles built in. Admins manage tables, columns and approvals. Users add and update components within their permissions.

🗂️

Multi Table Support

Separate tables for Capacitors, Resistors, ICs and any other category. Create and manage tables without touching the database manually.

🔍

Live Search

Find any component instantly. Search by part number, value, footprint or any field. Results filter live as you type across the entire table.

🏛️

Obsolete Marking

Components are never hard deleted by users. Mark as obsolete instead — full history preserved, nothing lost accidentally.

⚙️

Column Management

Add or remove columns from any table without touching SQL. Admin controlled, instant reflection in form and tree view.

🖥️

Works With Your Altium

Connects directly to Altium Designer via DbLib. No plugins, no cloud dependency. Your data stays on your machine or network drive.

🌿

Git Version Control

Admins push approved database changes to a Git repository with one click. Engineers pull the latest version to stay in sync — no manual file sharing, no conflicting copies, no wondering which database is current.

How It Works

Get your team up and running in under an hour.

1

Install and Connect

Run the installer on Windows. Point AltDB to your existing Access database or create a fresh one. Connect your Altium DbLib in minutes.

2

Set Up Your Tables

Create component tables for each category. Define your part number prefix and digit format. Add team members with admin or user roles.

3

Start Managing Components

Engineers add components through the form. Admins review and approve. Altium reads approved components live through the DbLib connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AltDB work with my existing Altium DbLib setup?

Yes. AltDB uses a Microsoft Access (.accdb) database which connects directly to Altium Designer via the standard DbLib configuration. If you already have a DbLib set up, AltDB can manage the same database.

Do I need to install anything else on my machine?

AltDB is a standalone Windows desktop application. It requires the Microsoft Access Database Engine (free from Microsoft) and the 32-bit ODBC driver for Access. No Python or other runtime needed — everything is packaged in the installer.

Can multiple engineers use AltDB at the same time?

Yes — with the Pro or Enterprise license the database can be hosted on a shared network drive. Multiple users connect simultaneously with their individual credentials and roles.

What happens to our existing component data?

If you have existing data in Excel or another format we offer a Library Migration Service. We handle the full migration and verify every record before delivery.

Is our component data stored in the cloud?

No. AltDB is entirely local. Your database file lives on your machine or company network drive. No data is ever sent to external servers. Full data ownership stays with you.

What operating systems are supported?

Currently Windows only — which aligns with Altium Designer's primary platform. Compatible with all modern Windows versions (Windows 10 and 11).

How does the Git version control feature work?

AltDB integrates with any Git repository (GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, etc.). Admins push the approved database file to the repo after making changes — this creates a full commit history of every update. Engineers run a pull from within AltDB to instantly get the latest approved database. No manual file copying, no emailing databases around, and full rollback capability if something goes wrong.

Can we request custom features for our workflow?

Yes — Enterprise customers get custom feature development as part of the plan. Solo and Pro customers can submit feature requests which are considered for upcoming releases.
